I worked at Texas newspapers in Austin and Houston, then reported from Colombia as a freelance correspondent. My coverage there appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Reuters, VICE News and more.
Later I took a job in Global Security at Facebook analyzing criminal organizations in Latin America. After that I wrote about the Texas-Mexico border as an independent journalist.
Today I cover Texas for Inside Climate News and my work runs in news outlets across the state, including the Texas Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Texas Observer, San Antonio Express-News and more.
I live in Caldwell County, Texas, with my wife, Pu Ying Huang, our rabbits and our garden.
